If your english is good, meaning, no thick accent or ghetto, and you have a driver's license, you can work as a car salesman. My friend just got hired to work at a ford dealership. He met with the general manager and was very upfront about his situation, he showed his college diploma, and his driver's license. The manager said while they don't normally do that, if he could sell cars he didn't care about his status. It's a commission only job, but the commissions are good. To give you an example, my friend came over my place a few days ago gloating over his commission check for the past month which was $6000. Not bad.

He does have to pay taxes though, it's not under the table. They provide you with a 1099 form at the end of the year.

Some other ideas are, learn a trade, I know lost of people who make a comfortable living doing all types of repairs. Open your own business, not as difficult as you think. Restaurants are always hiring, and in NY most don't care about status, just say you are a student and you'd rather get paid cash. It worked for me when I worked in restaurants, and no I'm not talking about cheap restaurants, even the most well known places in NYC will take you. I worked in several of them under the table and never had an issue, not to mention pay was great. My last job at a restaurant was 3 years ago working in a restaurant owned by a very famous musician, I made about $1200 a week at the time. Best job I ever had. Unfortunately I left because I would never be able to go to college and keep that schedule.

Anyways, just throwing ideas your way.

You just have to try. Don't say that you don't have a social security. JUST ASK " So do I need to fill out these forms and also do I get taxed or anything?" What documents should I bring in to fill out my employment information?

Good enough to know whether they require SS or not.
