I am not allowed to say where I work, if I support the DREAM Act. I have 2 letters in my file saying the the DREAM Act is a political issue. I disagree. It is a human rights issue.

The stories of the DREAMers are my stories, as well. I was actually illegal in México, and my community worked together to make sure I could stay in school and go on to college and my Masters. I adopted my only daughter, no parents, no papers, at the age of 15. By the time she was 17, she had 2 degrees from community college. Nevertheless, it took INS 10 years to process her paperwork.

I love teaching, my students (all of them), and what I teach. There is nothing more important to me than the DREAM Act. This nation has raised an entire generation of Anne and Andy Franks. Although it is ludicrous for this situation to continue, it does.

I support overall immigration reform and not at the expense of our DREAMers. The DREAM Act is bipartisan and needs to pass early and separately. The situation in Maricopa County has been very ugly and hateful. Let us solve this piece of the puzzle, because we can. Stop holding our gifted young Americans hostage. Pass the DREAM Act NOW.

Thanks Laurita for giving us your support by supporting the Dream Act! I also live in AZ and I'm fearful of the new law that would criminalize all undocumented people. Do you think it has a chance of passing and becoming law?
