Police agencies from Homestead to Palm Beach Gardens will be establishing roadside checkpoints Friday to make sure motorists are operating safe vehicles and are not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The Florida Highway Patrol will conduct a driver's license checkpoint at the Miami-Dade/Broward County line from 3 to 5 p.m. It will take place along the 6500 block of County Line Road.

The Broward Sheriff's Office will conduct a traffic checkpoint along the 4300 block of Wiles Road from 6 to 9 p.m. Vehicles will be inspected for defective safety equipment and each motorist will be asked to show his or her driver's license, registration and proof of insurance.

Hallandale Beach police will be conducting citywide DUI patrols from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.

Homestead police will conduct a citywide DUI patrol from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday. According to police, officers will target drivers who are impaired or speeding, defective vehicle equipment and other criminal violations.

Palm Beach Gardens police will conduct a safety and sobriety checkpoint along northbound lanes in the 11780 block of U.S. 1 from 11 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday. Officers will be checking for proper vehicle equipment and driver's licenses and will also be on the alert for people driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
