Is it too risky to try to go by plane?

I lost my driver's license (long story..) and i need to get it again unless I plan to leave the country (which I am getting more inclined to as immigration reform keeps lagging). *sigh*

I have an expired temporary driver's license (paper version) that I can carry with.

Fortunately I had renewed my foreign passport before this incident(but all visa stuffs are expired and I am undocumented). But I am afraid whether they can hold me and send me to ICE.

To be honest it seems the small airport I used to go often seems less obsessed with ID as long as picture and name matches with ticket. LAX seems more picky on these issues but small airports and Seattle Airport seems to just check whether I am the traveler (but I guess it could be different now. Last time I traveled to Seattle was like last year). But showing foreign passport can be frowned upon when 99.9% people show their state ID or DL.

My parents say I should pay for all traveling and motel etc. It takes so long to get there and I have school that I really shouldn't miss. Besides staying a few nights can be expensive and I am quite broke honestly (can't even afford to pay next tuition and don't have a job yet). Also not in a mood to travel that long distance, listening to my parent' scolding and lecturing about life etc (they really control my life. can't wait till I become independent and I need CIR to pass ASAP.). They think I can get apprehended and deported in the airport.

So is it so risky with foreign passport?

Anyone tried recently from CA to WA?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is risky. I personally would not even try to fly unless I had a valid driver license. Where else but an airport are you more likely to be scrutinized about your identity and status?

Well sounds like I have no option. 40 hours of driving. rofl.

My parent will be so exhausted driving alone, although I wish I can help driving. Oh well...

I will take it as a vacation during this spring break. >.<

I literally just got home thursday night from WA using my passport. Chill bruh. I only had one issue. TSA was staring really hard at my passport. I was like "FUCK! Going to get deported. Good stuff." And then after about 5 seconds, he goes "okay, I give up. Please tell me how to pronounce your last name because it's not one I've seen before." so I told him and he was just like "Oh! Okay! Well enjoy your flight Ms. ------"

For domestic flights they do not check to see if you Visa stamps are valid. They will just open up to the first/2nd/3rd page of your passport (wherever you id information is), make sure it is valid (valid as in not a fake passport) and let you go.

If you are do not want to run the risk of them "accidentally" opening up to the wrong page themselves then have your passport open to the right page already and hand it to them. If you give them want they need they won't go snooping for more.

Make sure there's no visa or any sort in your passport. Make sure it's NOT expired and it's valid.
Some might flip through the pages, stare at it for a few seconds longer (I met those while travelling to WA from NY) just look normal and keep your cool and you should be fine.
Dont look like you did something wrong or scared!
