I wanted to join this club at my university but I have to get my Live Scans done since it's a volunteer organization working with kids.

I looked at the form and it has a slot for DL number and SSN.

link to the form: http://interaxon.scienceontheweb.net...vescanform.pdf

Some of you said that you put ITIN instead of SSN and showed your passport instead of DL. I just wanted to make sure if this was okay before doing it.

I probably have to renew my passport since it's expired and that could take some time...

Any of you guys have an experience with this?

Thanks!

I have an expired DL and a SSN that came along with an "employment authorization card" which expired in 2009. I'm thinking I probably can't use those?

You can use it... All they want is a Social Security number.

They needed it for the background check. As far as I know you can't get a background check if you don't have a social security number but since you do I imagine you should be fine.

I was rejected by several volunteer organizations because they couldn't do a background check so I gave up after three rejections.

I want to go to my nephews fieldtrip but they require a background check also. I was like wait a minute so if I was a parent I couldn't go with my child? Doesn't make sense to me. So fed up with this!

Has anyone had any new experiences with the Live Scan background check process? From what I gather on the forum, I would need an ITIN or SSN (neither of which I have at the moment) and a photo ID. I have an unexpired passport, which has worked for some of us.

Is an ITIN/SSN absolutely necessary for the background check, or would I be okay with just my passport? I want to volunteer at a hospital that requires me to undergo the Live Scan. Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

I used my unexpired foreign passport, to do a livescan in CA. My passport was valid, and I also put in my TAX ID number/ ITIN. where it says to put in your SSN. There was no questions, and I passed the background check.

I see, so I would have to apply for an ITIN first then, in place of the SSN. Thanks Ed!!!
