I just received my employment authorization card in the mail!!

Can i get a drivers license with this or a social security card?

FYI, iam going through an adjustment of status through marriage.

Drivers license first, social security card takes some more time depending on how you obtained the employment authorization card.

I think you can apply for a SS# as soon as you get your EAD and then you can use both to get the Driver's License.

The license might have the red Temporary Visitor status with the expiration date of your EAD on it.

Wow congrats! You can get your SS card with your EAD This probably feels so amazing, I can't wait to be in your shoes. Just out of curiosity, how long did the process take for you? Did you send in your papers right after you got married? Did it take you about three months to get your EAD? Do you have a date for your interview already? I ask all these questions because I'm thinking about pursuing the same route (marriage) in upcoming months. I've been my boyfriend for two and a half years and it seems to be the best (or only) option for us.

Apply for you're SS first. Mine took 8 days to arrive if I count the weekends. Then you can apply for you're DL. Congrats


Back to writing my persuasive speech on DA for class tomorrow.

Well it took about 2 months and 21 days from the moment they received my applications (i485 and i765) for me to get my EAD in the mail. My interview is actually next wednesday, kinda nerve racking. But it took a while for me to get together all the requirements for the documentation, a little procrastination in my part. But it can definitely be done within a couple weeks.

Man im really happy though, i feel a sense of freedom i never had before. I feel so privileged to be able to actually go to the DPS and apply for a DL. Aweosome! And thanks on the best wishes!

I agree with Thespian,I applied & got mine in ~5 days.It is also easier to apply for identification when you have the SS or the DMV could give you the run around.
