I was requested by my dad in 2005 and my cases is already moving. I came here illegally in 2004 ... i have talked to some lawyers and they say that i should live the country before i turn 18 because then i will be punished because i turned 18 here in the country. im 17 and turning 18 July 1st... do you guys recommend me staying or leaving? they also said that if it takes longer than to get the appointment for interview and i go over 18 1/2 i might be punished.

Do you know when your case will get approved ?

What "they" are saying is accurate. The "punishment" is a 3 year bar,and if you stay six months longer it becomes 10 years !

You choices are simple:

1.Visit home and receive green card and come back legally as a Permanent resident without issue

2.or stay in the US illegally past 18 1/2,give up your green card process and wait until Dream act possibly passing whenever in the future.

I'd leave! (As long as I were guaranteed to be able to make it back).. I would've taken that option if I would've know about it at 18!! ....now I'm 22, my mom is a few months from citizenship and I'm still at square one.. Look at it as a vacation.

If this person leaves, I thought the 10 year ban applies still.
