Yeah, the number of criminal deportations increased while the number of non-criminal deportations decreased from 08-10, which is something I personally support. You commit a felony, you should be deported...there is no question about it. And don't give me that, oh everyone should be given a second chance....your life in the US is already your second chance.

Not to mention that from 01-05 the numbers are completely meaningless since a) the whole Homeland Security/INS depts. were going through restructuring and worrying more about terrorist threats and national security than anything else. b) the number of undocumented immigrants increased from like 6.5M in 2000 to like 10-11M in 2006, obviously the number of deportations will increase.

That is not exactly true. The only real trend you can see is up to 2009, which shows increases and Obama deporting more people, both criminals and non-criminals alike. The projection for 2010 is a projection only, not the real numbers. If the trend continues, then both non-criminal and criminal deportations will increase again. Obviously, the non-criminal deportation number is not bad, but the other number is--at least for somebody who claims to empathize with people in the shadows, and who promised to have this problem taken care of a half year ago.

i don't know, if I had a crime commited against me, i'd rather have the criminal be deported after time served (if in fact this is not the case already). Also, doesn't it become a criminal offense for repeat offenders of immigration laws (which is a bit unfair as well)?

Like I said already, non-criminal deportations are rising too--and under Obama's leadership too. The number for 2010 is just a projection. It is not a guarantee that non-criminal deportations will go down. My money is that they will go up along with criminal deportations.
