But supporters of immigration reform see the DREAM Act as a good way to help fix a broken system without adding harsh enforcement measures that could be lumped in with a comprehensive reform bill. Ali Noorani, executive director of National Immigration Forum, said the DREAM Act or AgJOBS, a reform bill that focuses on immigrant farm workers, could be a good step toward reforming immigration policy. “Whether it’s the DREAM Act or AgJOBS that passes, we have to make sure that neither passes with enforcement measures,” he said.

Obama doesn't need legislation to add harsh measures- see headlines RE: deportations for non-criminal aliens and arrest quotas. Appeasement of ring-wing nutters in Congress; etc.

“We’re not going to do comprehensive reform this year,” a spokesman for Lugar told TWI. “It’s not in the cards.” He said the senator supports comprehensive immigration reform, but if it’s not possible this session he’s willing to look at other options, such as the DREAM Act

Only person making sense in this senseless debate.

On the other side of the aisle, Democrats are hesitant to push for the DREAM Act if it means giving up on comprehensive reform this year, even though many of them have said a far-reaching immigration bill is unlikely. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said he wants comprehensive, not “piecemeal,” immigration reform. A spokesman declined to comment on Reid’s plans for the DREAM Act or comprehensive reform, saying he would defer to Durbin, the party’s second-ranking senator, on his plans for the bill.

Here are the top players of hot-potato AGAIN - I-don't-want-to-vote-on-this-you-are-it! No, you-are-it...scumbags. Reid can't comment because he has nothing to comment about as he doesn't give a shit about DREAM act. See financial reform and unemployment extension this week: When they want something they put it to a vote. Again. Again. And again. Until the nutters get distracted and vote "yes".

Durbin spokesman Max Gleischman told TWI there are no definitive plans to move forward with the DREAM Act instead of comprehensive immigration reform. “We’re certainly open to that option, but right now we’re focused on making sure that’s a part of comprehensive reform conversation,” he said, adding that comprehensive reform is still possible this year. (Durbin told The Associated Press last week that it is “very unlikely” that the DREAM Act would pass before November.)

Excuse me...you are 'open' to what option exactly? WHO, just WHO ever said to pass DREAM act INSTEAD of CIR? You haven't been successful in passing CIR at all, but Reid gave up on DREAM act after just ONE try that came up short of votes. We saw this week what you do when you DO care and want something passed: You force people to vote on the record. You are trying to weasel your way out of doing this to cover the useless blue dogs in the Democratic party who are Democrats in name only. DREAM act is still DREAM act wether by itself or included in another bill. Cut the bullshit and pass it. Your have told everyone that you do not intend to pass CIR this year.

Summary:

Reid says go to Durbin. Durbin says wait for Schumer (bill); Schumer says wait for next year. Reid, Durbin, Schumer and Obama told desperate people last year to wait for this year. Next year the parties will choose their presidential candidates and Obama will say...wait for next year. The Democrats who are against immigrants are using the Republicans for cover.

Reached for comment following the arrests, a Durbin spokesman said, "Today's demonstrations by some DREAM Act supporters ... crossed the line from passionate advocacy to inappropriate behavior. The tide of public opinion has long been on the side of the DREAM Act -- it has broad bipartisan support in Congress and poll after poll shows that people of all political persuasion believe in its goals. Sen. Durbin believes that we will win this fight on the merits, not through public demonstrations or publicity stunts."

Wow. How come I've yet to see this comment being made towards tea-baggers? Oh, but they can vote. The media covered a few dozen massively back in March, while they ignored over 100,000 demonstrators for CIR.

This is hypocrisy of the utmost level.

You have a future in Cliffs Notes. All we need to add is Obama promising within first 90 days.

Watch MSNBC pundits for Tea Party bashing, Fox pundits for Tea Party support, and CNN pundits for the news to be explained NFL style with TV screens and play-by-play action.

Oh sit the fuck down durbin, really, 10 years, we had a super mayority in 2009 and you still can't pass this fucking bill. Grow some balls and stick this bill to anything bigger that comes up, shit stick it to a "flags for orphans" act. We can be marching day and night, we can block major interstates still shit won't happen if you won't move...

I'm just pissed off at this man's (?) bullshit.

If Durbin is not a coward for not pressing DREAM's passage in the last ten years, he is coward for having his spokespeople speak for him on such a personal issue. Well I think its personal, its been so long that maybe its not that close to him anymore....

I dedicate this song to Durbin and all the other lying, backstabbing cowards in the democratic party (including Obamba)...

"Beware the false motives of others
Be careful of those who pretend to be brothers
And you never suppose it's those who are closest to you (to you)
They say all the right things to gain their position
Then use your kindness as their ammunition
To shoot you down in the name of ambition, they do"

"Like Cain and Abel, Caesar and Brutus, Jesus and Judas,
Backstabbers do this"
