Hello!

Hi im from Lompoc,CA. Like many of you my situation is difficult, im undocumented, and forced to work illegaly, if i could change that i would, because a job in the fields just doesn't put food on the table, especially when you have four younger brothers and one older sister, you might think well why don't you save up, and fix your papers, well most of the money i make goes to bills and rent and so on, i hardly get to spend it on myself, my dad is currently out of a job and recieving unemployment since he was laid off, im practically the main source of money for my family, since my dads un-emp. benefits are almost up, were super behind in our rent, its a miracle they haven't evicted us, its a bigger miracle that i even have a job, i feel lucky to have it since others are in the fields breaking their backs, but i still work hard, im 19 yrs old and ill be 20 in about a month and a half. I've been trying to go to school, and keep my education going, as well as keeping my head up, because i hear about all these other people in the same situations, except they've already graduated from colleges or universities with full degrees, it seems pointless. But still i try and remain hopeful that the Dream Act passes. I almost feel alone in this situation, because i really dont have many friends in the same situations, sure i know of a few others, but none are friends so that makes it even harder.

You are definitely not alone. I would encourage you to see if there is a local DREAM organization so you can meet other students like us. Believe me, it is an awesome experience meeting others who understand what we go through. I just came back from the rally for DREAM in Washington DC and it was amazing meeting many students and talking to them.
