Hi, my name is karen I"m 21 years old and I came to the United States when I was seven years old, after my mother passed away and for those and other circumstances me and some of my family had to leave our homeland. I been in school here in the united states since the first grade and this country is all I ever really known. After turning 18 and about to graduate high school is when i saw the difficulties of being an immigrant all my friends were driving and getting ready to go to all these great colleges while i knew i had to stay local and struggle with how to pay for college with no help and here i am now 21 still facing those same difficulties. I didn't have a mother or father so I had no one that can represent me until i was fourteen when my aunt and uncle adopted me but because of the
245i law i cant do anything even if both my parents are citizens. so life is tough and the more and more time passes the more and more discourage i become with having "the American Dream" and the DREAM act is something that gives me hope for my future. i'm the only one in my family that is still an immigrant because i lost my mother when i was so young.

Hi Karen, welcome to DAP.

I rarely post on this forum, but your case intrigued me. Let me get this straight- were you were adopted by American citizens, or are your biological parents USCs? Have you consulted an immigration lawyer about your case?

@aguilan I was intrigued too. She seems to be saying her biological parents are citizens. If that is what is being said, I think she could have a case too.

Thanks for the clarification, Karen. I'm sorry that your immigration situation is so difficult.

I know that this probably won't sound very helpful- but have you consulted another lawyer about your case? You never know, they may be able to find a loophole that you can use.

Mmmm well just recently I have been getting into this... I mean I was adopted when I was 14 and now I'm 21 and I'm still waiting.. The only loophole would be if I left the country back to mine and I got adopted there and then brought over here by my parents but the there's no possible way I would leave this country and my life and risk everything I have.
