Okay so what's this stuff i'm hearing about that now they're starting to not give out residency or citizenship to people who get married?
They're starting to disreguard that?
It's like the 4th time I heard it this week..
Please tell me it's bs.
I was gonna marry my gf cause we love each other and she understands it needs to be done. NOW this happens?
I can understand if I hired someone for money or something, but wtff.. What if people are acutally in love, now they don't even care about that.?

it's BS. You could refer to the following website for the official information

Well if you entered the country legally (visa) and then stayed passed your alloted time you might be able to get your status adjusted... but if thats not the case, I was told by an attorney that they would ask you to leave the country. The penalty (time outside the US) depends on your case but it could start from months to ten years which is the max. Before you do anything consult an attorney because it really depends on your particular case.

Hope this helps.

If you live in the 9th circuit jurisdiction, the West Coast, and overstayed your visa, you are allowed to stay in the country while processing your change of status. If however, you live in a different circuit, or you EWI, I'm afraid you will have to leave and apply for a waiver.
