Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) announced Wednesday night that he is considering introducing a constitutional amendment that would change existing law to no longer grant citizenship to the children of immigrants born in the United States.

Currently, the 14th Amendment grants citizenship to any child born within the United States.

But with 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States, Graham said it may be time to restrict the ability of immigrants to have children who become citizens just because they are born within the country.

“I may introduce a constitutional amendment that changes the rules if you have a child here,” Graham said during an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “Birthright citizenship I think is a mistake, that we should change our Constitution and say if you come here illegally and you have a child, that child's automatically not a citizen.”

yeah im pretty sure that with 54 senators in favor of dream and maybe around 40 in favor of cir he will get 2/3 super majorities in both houses to pass this as well as 3/4 of all states, man is an idiot

This won't go through.

Constitutional amendment is a huge task, and even something like Gender Equality Amendment was never passed.

Its not a matter of passing or not.

lindsey isnt fighting for his political life so there is no reason for him to make such conservative statements.

The fact that someone who was working towards a CIR bill is garbling this nonsense is firghtening

The baby would still be a U.S. citizen.

Anyway, this guy is supposed to be our ally among the Republicans. He might as well give up the pretenses and run for Grand Wizard of the KKK.

Graham-what a coward! And he was working with Shumer on CIR. I'm concerned if Shumer is the same... Shumer brings bills to a vote knowing there are not enough votes, brings bill back to a vote again and again, but he says that he will not bring Dream to a vote because there are not enough votes for it. WTF?
