I'm going to personally meet with Senator Boxer in two weeks. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone,

I'm meeting with Senator Boxer in two weeks at a fundraiser she's holding in San Francisco. I intern with a CA State Senator (they don't know I'm undocumented, and there was no paperwork to fill out), and the campaign manager likes me enough to let me know of important events that pertains to politics.

So I'll be volunteering at the fundraiser, and I know I can probably talk to Senator Boxer about DREAM Act.

I'm thinking of telling her my story and my aspirations in hopes that she'll remember it for when DREAM comes up on the Senate floor. (I'm going to graduate in the spring, the job prospects for my field look great, but too bad I'm undocumented...) I'll probably ask her about what she's going to do for immigration reform.

What do you guys think?

My question is why talk to her about dream act while she is already a solid supporter of dream act..?

don't whine on why we need DA/CIR tell him/her how America and Immigrants will benefit.

Can you ask her if dreamers who have left and returned to the US for more than 180 days prior to 2005 would still be qualified to benefit under Dream Act?

"The Initial Entry before 16, a continued physical presence of 5 years prior to enactment, and a physical absence of no more than 90/180 days" is ambiguous and leaves a lot of questions.

For example, we know what happens to people who received deportation orders but never left(deportation order will be canceled), but we don't know for sure what happens to people who stayed out of the US for say 2~4 years prior to 2005 under the current bill. Even immigration lawyers aren't sure. This is the kind of question only a senator could best answer.

This is the only ambiguous part of Dream Act and this issue affects many here.

I agree with you telling your story and your aspirations.

As far as DREAM goes, I would tell her bringing up DREAM Act for a vote in September can be a good way to show many people that Democrats are ready to lead in immigration. She needs Latino votes in November.

Since she already supports it, don't whine or complain but rather let her know how thankful we all are for her support.

These people have heard our stories and those stories haven't gotten us any votes yet. Even Gaby Pacheco's "we are all carbon" speech didn't stop Arpaio or whatever to continue his hate.

Its good to be brief with your story but you gotta lay down the facts.

How old were you when you entered the first time?

If you entered before 16 and then left for 2-4years, doesn't that make you ineligible bc your time out of the country? and ineligible if you were 16yrs old+ when you entered again?
