Dream Act is not a 5000 page bill..Why cant Reid schedule a day of debate, and put it on the floor as a stand alone like HE did in 2007...Then Hatch, Bennett cant say well im not voting for it because you attached it to the DoD bill...

Something tells me its a ploy...DA fails as an amendment..Reid blames Republicans again, tells Hispanics he tried, (fires them up) they come out to vote in November..for Dems and especially him

You're probably right! That's exactly what he's doing. He's in a tough election, so he decides to bring up the DREAM, because Nevada has a huge Hispanic population, and will vote for him because they think he's on their side, when he's a shrewd politician just like the others

If Reid brings Dream Act to the floor as a stand-alone bill, it'll be amended and modified until we can no longer recognize it. Senators have the privilege to amend stand-alone bill

However, Senators can't amend an amendment. By attaching Dream Act to Defense Bill, the language of Dream Act will be preserved
