As you may or may not know...compromise is an essential facet of our political system, whenever two sides cannot agree on a new piece of legislation.

Many believe that the requirements for the DREAM Act are not enough. Let's NOT ARGUE whether these people are right or wrong. Do not come here and post why the current requirements currently placed are already enough.

Please, just simply provide provide other measures that you believe are reasonable. Perhaps, one more year of military/college? Required community work? There are many things we could add.

Please, add them here. Maybe, we can all agree on something that can be added to the DREAM Act. Thank You.

Also, try to go into depth as to why you believe your added requirement would work and would be reasonable for DREAMers.

Thank You.

Even if we agree on a new requirement that restricts the DREAM Act, we are not Senators. We have no (or not enough) influence to change the DREAM Act before it is voted on Tuesday. Even if we had influence, we would not be able to change the DREAM Act. There is simply not enough time for that. I think it is better to focus on the attachment of the DREAM Act to the Defense Authorization bill on Tuesday.

^Very true. We cant change it. But I do think more people would be in favor, if it had some new rules that would deter people from bringing in children illegally in the first place.

Are you serious?! Isn't paying full tuition, not being able to drive, not being able to visit families overseas, and getting paid less than what we should really get paid for enough requirements? If they can change something to that bill, it is to get everyone not only illegal immigrants to be able to adjust their status, including international students.

Again, simply post the requirements you believe would push Americans into wanting the DREAM Act to pass.

I know as well as anyone the few days we have left. I am not looking to change it.

However, there is still a very strong chance it will NOT pass. We all have to admit that, unfortunately. So what happens when bills are not passed? They are revised in a way that others will jump on board.

That is why I am asking all of you to provide other requirements that you believe would be reasonable.

Thank You.

Pass the DA. That's reasonable enough.

For the sake of argument, let's say the Dream Act requirements are "lacking".

What I would you propose to be added? Are the people that WILL join the military not enough of a commitment? or is it still lacking to the eyes of people?

Hell, I'm as liberal as anyone can be.. What I would propose to garner support from the hardline fringe senators would be an actual addition to the constitution of adding an amendment that will deter further illegal immigration and more people suffering our status.

I say we concentrate our energy on calling, faxing, emailing, and not waste a single bit of the already small amount of time we have left. Migente, even if we come up with the best requirement, we do not write bills, even if we did, the Republicans would still try to block it. Call, call, call, and after that please call again.

^We cannot deny the fact that there is a very strong possibility that it won't be passed. I do realize that our made up requirements would have small effect on the Government, but still. It doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to come up with ideas.

I do very much agree that we should spend our time wisely, by calling and e-mailing Senators. I am already doing that and have been these past few days.

Hopefully, we WON'T have to come back to this subject...
