Well hi guys, I'm new here, just registered today and well I havent really introduced myself to anyone here so i'll say a few brief things so I can then ask my question.

(i'll open up a thread in the "new members" forum shortly)

My name is Juan, i'm 19 years old &I was brought here to the U.S from Mexico when I was about 1 or 2 years old, i'm not even so sure to be honest, and asking my parents about it just makes me feel worse because we go back to that dreadful topic...of me being undocumented. I've lived here for basically my entire life. In fact I cant remember any more beyond the times when I was 3, and already living here. I did not find out I was undocumented until I was in high school, I believe it was 9th grade. I'm now in my 2nd year of college hoping to transfer soon and hopefully make something out of my life
(i'll open up a thread in the "new members" forum with more details about myself and if any of you guys wanna get to know me better)

anyway my question is regarding travel through a greyhound bus... my girlfriend and I live in different cities &unfortunately cant see eachother as often as we would like, I dont drive, since I cant get a license. And i'm considering going to where she lives riding in greyhound, but I had heard a while back that there were ICE agents that would check the buses and well that kind of keeps me worrying, even though I heard this only happens possible when going from state to state. I wont be leaving the state of california since the city is only about 4 hours apart. Do you guys know if theres a risk of any checkpoints? My girlfriend currently doesnt know i'm undocumented btw.

thanks

Dude greyhound buses suck, they are full of dirty ass people. I'd do anything to avoid taking one.

I've always thought that if I ever have to take a Greyhound or Amtrak, I'll "sleep" the whole way. I don't think they wake people up for papers, lol

Good luck seeing your lady. My boyfriend lives 20 miles away but it turns out to be like 45 mins on the bus and it SUCKS! I hate it. I can't imagine living farther than this.

What if I'm REALLY sleeping though? Like if I take NyQuil and it truly knocks me out so that I can't even be woken up? Haha imagine them sending me to the hospital for it or something... but in all honesty I saw a video once that showed immigration people going on a bus and checking people's papers. I saw a passenger that was sleeping and they just walked by her. She looked harmless. So I learned a lesson: fall "asleep" as soon as boarding the bus, and look as innocent as possible (pigtails, maybe?).

Yes I think about these things...
