Hey you guys, I have a question about getting married

a little background info: my boyfriend and I have been dating since sophomore year in high school (2006) and I truly feel like we're meant to be together. I don't want to get married yet but he's willing to do get married in order to help me out. I feel like I'm too young but, I guess we can have an official wedding later on in life and just not tell anyone about this one, lol!

Anyway, I was just wondering if I would have to move in with him. We both live with our parents (we go to the same JC) so it'd be really weird if i had to move in with his mom and dad Will the person interviewing us expect us to live together? Also, we would definitely need a sponsor because we both make less than 20,000 a year, right?

Ugh. I wish DREAM would pass already but I need to survey my options. Thanks for your help y'all

I dwelled on the idea of getting married as well.. but ugh.. I just don't want to marry anyone for papers or even if I did love them at the time being.. who knows what I'd actually feel when I feel what freedom feels?

Are you down to be tied down (inb4 bdsm).. Like for the meantime it seems its going to help you out biggggggggg time but at the cost of freedom you have yet to taste?

This post made me laugh

I agree, which is why I'm reluctant to do it. I do love him with all of my heart but I don't want to be tied down like you said (no bdsm lol).

I'll just keep makin' those calls till the end of the 111th congress adjourns for good!! Hopefully before then dream will have been voted on and passed

First of all, how old are you? If you and your boyfriend still live in your parents house, that's going to be a problem. When you are being interviewed, they want to make sure this is a bona fide marriage. What this means is, you would have to prove that you have a bank account together, live together, have loads of photos, and so on.

Are you and your boyfriend commited to all this? I see that you're doubting yourself, so if in doubt-- DON'T DO IT! I would wait until the both of you are ready to have a life together.

Glad it did.

Since you mentioned you are both going to JC at the meantime.. that's a good distraction from the uncertain status of the DA.

Good luck to you and your significant other!

Listen, if u both love each other, do not wait a second and get on with ur life. Marry him and apply. Start ur life and stop worring about if/why, ok. Accomplish ur dreams together. If u live with his parents or ur parents just get a notarized letter from them that ur living with them. And for sponsorship u can always ask someone to help u guys. GOOD LUCK AND GO FOR IT

My view is , there's never a "perfect time" for kids or for marriage. If you love someone or decide to have kids, everything else will fall into place. You'll find time for school, for work, you'll be ok with living in a tiny place to save money, and you won't mind eating canned soups every day. But it's a risk you have to be willing to take, and from your doubts it doesn't seem like you are. Don't force yourself to want to get married, it's something that you have to want in your heart. Just remember to never wait for a perfect moment because it doesn't exist... life's too short to not enjoy it and live it fully.

Good luck with whatever you decide

Btw, how old are you? Does your bf work? That can make a big difference.

I got married when I was a Senior in HS which I was 18 at that time and I didn't even know I was illegal at the point! Anyways I got married while living with my parents and finishing up HS. Ever since I am still a happy married man! I am 21 years old, having our own apartment and next year planning of having our first baby! She's also aware of me not being a USC but that wasn't even a problem with her cause I am still human like everyone else lol. Just remember marry him because you really love him. Don't get married so he can petition you for a visa and have to return to your own country for example Mexico(Ciudad Juarez) for god knows how long to get your waiver approved. If your waiver is not approved you will automatically be fine with a 10 year ban which means you will not be allowed to enterr your own country you love for 10 years! I would not risk it 50/50 remember that. I would wait for DA or CIR in the future.
