Texas Sen. John Cornyn today accused Democrats of playing politics with immigration policy by forcing a vote on a bill that offers legal status to 2.1 million young illegal immigrants through education, military service or fines.

Cornyn has supported the so-called DREAM Act in the past, but Thursday criticized Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s plan to put it to a Senate vote after Thanksgiving – an effort designed in part to put Republicans in a political squeeze.

“It demonstrates, if Sen. Reid chooses to do this, his tin ear when it comes to what the America people are saying concerns them the most about our broken immigration system, and that is the lack of border security,” Cornyn told Texas reporters in a conference call.

You know what's playing politics? Not passing the DREAM Act or CIR in the last 10 years when the Republicans dominated Congress.

Cornyn supported the bill in the Judiciary Committee. He expects Reid to reject GOP efforts to toughen the bill with amendments that deal with border security or enforcement of existing immigration laws.
The above quote is from the same article !!!

This is the trend that I'm seeing from Sen. Cornyn's statement and Sen. Lemieux's statement.

Basically, Republicans want to add border security component to Dream Act Gee, Democrats, let them add the border enforcement so we could finally pass dream act. So many people's lives are at stake if DA doesn't pass this year

It's obvious that Cornyn doesn't support the DREAM Act. He is coming up with idiotic reasons to oppose it. He is going to vote against it, simply because the vote is after Thanksgiving. Don't make me laugh Cornyn. It would be better if you just opposed the Dream Act like the other Republicans do by calling it amnesty for criminals. At least it would make you sound more sane.

they want amendments so they can waste time and say "we were going to vote for it, but there was no time left"; amending anythings takes time; we don't have that.

Obama sends more border patrol and spikes up deportations more than anyone to show to people "hey I'm going in the direction you want me to go"; but these people still don't get it. and 2.1 mil students? get your facts buddy

This right here. This border security stuff is just a stall tactic used by Republicans so they can go back to their Hispanic constituents and tell them: "Hey, at least I tried to pass it!"

Obama has done more to secure the border than any other president in history and it still isn't enough. It will never be enough for the Republicans. If they ever somehow completely seal the border up, they'll just say that CIR and DREAM aren't needed because all the illegal aliens will eventually leave on their own.

I’m certainly sympathetic to the plight of these kids who through no fault of their own, find themselves in this predicament, but the kind of games that Majority Leader Reid is playing here seem more designed to play politics than they do actually to try to solve the problem,” he said, adding that “It’s not the highest agenda item when it comes to immigration reform.”
We don't need your fucking sympathy if you are not going to vote for the bill.

I really hate Cornyn. Another shameful Senator for me, sad to say. If he does not support CIR, then why the hell does he go around pretending to be all about getting immigration reform? what a hypocrite and a jerk!
