People we have to push Obama sign a Executive Order if the dream act vote falls through. That's the only other way. He can easily say its a boost to the military and it helps the economy. I'm not sure why hasn't done it yet but we can push through with letters and calling local reps to make a push. He promised he would somehow pass the dream act before he ran for president, so now its time for him to put the ink to the paper and sign it.

Thats as likely as CIR passing the same day DREAM does. Obama will see it as a great opportunity to blame Republicans so Latinos will continue to vote democrat.

Honestly, I would be surprised if DREAM passes this time around. I sincerely hope I am wrong on this. If the lame duck DREAM doesn't pass, GOP controlled house will unlikely to take up any immigration measure in the next two years. As the economy goes further down the toilet, chances of Obama getting re-elected will continue to decrease in the coming months. The only way Obama can hope to secure his presidency for the second term is if he gets about 70%+ of the Latino votes. If all else fails on immigration reform, logic dictates that he will have no other option but to sign an EO perhaps at least the parts of what was recommended on the leaked DHS memo. He can easily allow TPS/Deferred Action to dreamies and move the registry date to 1996.

Though it's a good idea, i don't want it to distract me from my ultimate goal to get DA pass.

Its not a distraction. Its a alternative if the dream act vote fails. The math doesn't add up. Unfortunately I see only 53-54 votes, if that. Democrats from conservative states fear Republicans can easily use this against them in 2012. I can already see the ads showing them voting yes on what they call amnesty. I have a hard time seeing Baucus, Conrad, Dorgan, Hagen, Prior, McCaskil, Manchin, Landrieu, and Tester voting yey on it. After all for them this is not about us, its about their constituents. I can see Bennett (R) and Lugar (R) voting yes on it. Murkowski 50/50. Don't be surprised if you see a heartbreaker such as 58-59 votes.

McCain (R-AZ)- If his smart he wont vote Yey or Nay and will be absent most likely.
Voinovich (R-OH) - Ney
Brown (R-MA) - Ney (border first)
LeMieux (R-FL) - Ney (Border first)
Graham (R-SC) - Ney (Border first)
Brownback (R-KS) - Likely Ney but i hear lobbyist are working hard on his yey.

Expect heavy opposition speeches from these senators:

Sessions (R-AL)
McConnell (R-KY)
Shelby (R-AL)
Chambliss (R-GA)
Cornyn (R-TX)

Vitter (R-LA)

I really wish he would.. And honestly there is nothing more ethical and deserving of the executive order than the dream act.. But the guy doesn't even talk about the issue, the only time he's even mentioned immigration was when he was speaking to a spanish speaking organization like univision and la raza etc.. Do you honestly believe he would pull out his executive order for us?? I don't think so.

Its actually possible since there was an internal memo that was leaked showing he fully supports it. Listen we are not asking for amnesty here for everybody. If we push it enough its quite possible for us and sensible for them.

I do agree and hope Plan A works out.
