Just curious because my sister recently made a comment regarding this, and I realized that there are people against the DREAM Act only on the assumption that we just don't speak the language.

Well... I have a dream and its in english, and I think in english and my language of preference is english I just happen to also speak spanish.

Well thats not the right way to figure that out... Ive had dreams in languages that ive never even heard before lol... sometimes I have em in portuguese.. most times in english. But I think the question youre looking for is, what language do we prefer speaking or something.

I really wanted the statement to have an effect of our attachment to this country and its official language from having been in school potentially from an early age. I would consider myself as thinking in english most if not all the time, and I feel that my challenge with communicating in spanish, while I know and can speak the spanish language perfectly there is this feeling of a lag as I feel I have to internally translate from spanish to english and back to spanish in order to understand the message and give a response, and often times I either find myself asking people what certain words mean or to use a different word before I understand what they telling me, and also have trouble finding the correct words to convey what I want to say, leaving me speaking the language of spanglish.

Plus one of the most historically significant and powerful speeches in american history started with the words "I have a dream...", I wanted to incorporate that imagery into what I was doing here.

Asking what language you speak does not have that much meaning, at least for me as asking what language you dream in. I would prefer to speak japanese, I don't know it yet, but its a language that has a long history and the manner that its written is just so unique in my eyes, that and there are some good anime out there that I would like to understand, and give me enough time and I might learn how to speak it, probably will butcher the language along the way or something like that but might learn it, however, I am not so sure it will become the primary language that I dream in, maybe my question should have been phrased differently as what language do you primarily dream in, but it loses that historical significance....

I hope I did not lose too many people in my definition, its just the way I consider this stuff.

lol. I never thought of what language my dreams were in.. Come to think about it, I don't know if dreams have "words"..just thoughts. And my thoughts are in english, so I guess it makes sense to dream in english.

Sometimes I just don't know, I think I just wrote that because I had to write something in order to put the poll out and this thing would not let me create a new thread without writing anything so I just decided to write that.
