No eligibility for financial aid or loans. You are on your own to come up with 30,000 a year for your education. Good luck finding a loan.

Basically, the whole point of the Dream Act is washed. No real option for education. Only service. Even then a 10 year fucking wait for a green card? We are allowed to stay in the country without the fear of deportation, but we aren't allowed to do anything. Lol how about that for a deal?

Republicans won. The first one to not give a shit about anybody else but yourself wins.
We would be eligible for loans and work study. We would also be eligible for financial aid that the school provides through alumni and donations.

The thing that i wonder is if we would be eligible for state financial aid????

You could still get in the millitary. I don't know if you would qualify for the new G.I bill.

The new version seems to push us towards the military option; maybe they think that will sway conservatives to support the bill ; /

dude, you're nut..

read the bill before you post shit like this.

The new "conditional non-immigrant" status is just a de-facto greencard. that's all. You're still entitled to any benefits that the greencard holder has except that you can't bring your family over here.

The reason that they extend the status to 10 years is that they try to delay your citizenship status. Under the new bill, you'll have to wait 13 years to become citizen where as in the old bill you could just wait for 6 years to become citizen. The later that you could become citizen, the later you could sponsor your parents to come to US. But in 13 years, CIR will pass anyway.

Besides, READ the damn bill. You're still entitled to federal loan + federal work study + state grant + school grant + school scholarship. The only thing that you're not eligible for is federal pell grant. That's all.

Really, you need to stop being pessimistic.

You will be eligible for state financial aid, which is ALWAYS more generous than federal financial aid.

The reason is that state financial aid falls under state's jurisdiction. The federal can't have any control over it. For example, Texas has already offered millions of financial aid money to undocumented students. It's TEXAS the deepest of the deepest red state in the country.

You're gonna go to school and depend on alumni donations? you call that financial aid? wake up little girl. You'd be lucky if they gave you 20 dollars for your notes.
