At came to this country in the year 2000, when i was only 7 years old. I am a senior at high school, for the past several years i have hoped for an immigration reform or Dream Act bill to pass so i can go to college. I really respect what you guys are doing, I will love to get involved in the Miami area. It is difficult to see friends of mine applying for universities when i have the possibility of not even attending. I considered myself a hard working student like all of you, Ive worked hard in school, being in IB classes and Honors. I am new to this website and I was wondering how the new Dream Act bill will help me when it does not give in state tuition.

Thank you

Welcome to DAP! And about the tuition thing, we still have a long ways to go with the DREAM Act. The version that passes the Senate may see some changes during deliberation, so I wouldn't worry too much on things like that and I would instead focus my attention into making sure I contact Senators and urge them to support the DREAM.

Don't mean to confuse you and get your hopes up, but from what I understood on the last bill I read about the DA, i read that they plan on getting rid of in-state tuition for future undocumented students,
if you qualify for the DA, you will be able to get in-state tuition because you will have "non immigrant status"but you won't qualify for fed aid or grants (obvs), but you will qualify for loans.

Besides, it seems like you have a good academic curriculum (specially with IB classes), many current undocumented DREAMers have been able to get full ride private scholarships due to their grades, etc, so I imagine it will be easier to get scholarships once you get "non immigrant status"

Get your head in the game and apply for private colleges. There is a post about private colleges that give aid to students. Look it up and good luck.

I was impressed that you really shared your intention and asking some help. That's why I salute your move in expressing out here. We may not know that there some generous and helpful people aside from DA bill, who can help your studies one day soon.

Don't lose hope....when the DA still on our government action. They can provide, and see to it. You can have all the requirement they need. We may not know through this forum/website they can help you.
