I will be flying from either NJ or NY to ATL. I only have a WA DL. I will be flying around xmas or new years. Is it still safe with all the bumped up TSA regulations?

Don't worry about the new TSA regulations. It's all the same you can show your ID or a passport from your country. My girl is a manager for TSA and when we travel I only show my IL ID or if I don't have that I show my Mexican passport. Your good to fly bro.
