Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Saturday said Democrats plan to move forward next week on several votes including the DREAM act to establish U.S. citizenship for children of illegal immigrants.

Speaking midway through a rare Saturday morning session on tax-cut votes, Reid said he will file procedural motions on Monday to set up cloture votes on Wednesday for an impeachment proceeding against a judge and various other procedural motions including the DREAM Act. Reid said he made the decision based on agreements with GOP Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.).

Reid said after Wednesday, he is hopeful that an agreement between the White House and congressional leaders will be in place regarding the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, as well as a continuing resolution to keep funding the government. Reid said he also hoped to squeeze in votes on the START arms control treaty between the U.S. and Russia, as well as a defense authorization measure that includes a repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy regarding gays in the military.

Alluding to last year's Christmas Eve votes on the healthcare reform bill, Reid said he planned to adjourn the chamber on Friday, Dec. 17, for Christmas recess.

"We all know where we were last year on Christmas Eve," Reid said. "We don't want to be in the same place this Christmas Eve."

this really shows where their priorities are, politicians (democrats) spent most of their momentum, time, energy in the healthcare even stayed 'till christmas. and for dream act, they just have a vote schedule that's all if it passes passes and if not, then it simply did not pass. but they want to go home in christmas.

The move would set up votes on the measures Wednesday, which would give the Senate enough time to conduct a rare impeachment trial of Judge Thomas Porteous beginning Tuesday morning.

None of the bills, which also include a collective-bargaining measure for firefighters and a one-time $250 cost-of-living adjustment payment to seniors, are expected to muster the 60 votes needed to break a GOP filibuster, although agreement could be reached on the $250 COLA payment measure.

But Reid has insisted he would try to force votes on all of them, and by doing so on Wednesday he could clear the way for progress on big-ticket items such as tax cuts, an omnibus spending bill, the START Treaty and possibly even "don't ask, don't tell."

I dont like that last part, its like they made an agreement to get us out the way fast wtih a rushed vote to get to what they really want to do... im not feeling this at all .....

You know what, they could have brought up this bill in the beginning of 2009 and it would have passed, but the damn Mexican Drug War spiraled out of control at exactly that moment and took up the news, and it scared everyone from passing any immigration bill

O.K., from what I've highlighted in bold, there appears to be an agreement between Reid and McConnel regarding votes, so for all we know they have may have found a way to break the famous "Republicans will block everything until taxes are agreed to B.S", if that is correct, that means we would have Bennett and Lugar will vote yes on D.A. We need to keep calling on our Republican target list, lets call Dreamers , I just called and Hatch's D.C. inbox is not filled.
