Plan B if Dream Act doesn't clear cloture this week

Whats good folks??? First of all, I'm sorry if a discussion about this topic has already been created. I couldn't find one. Let's be realistic about this. If Dream Act doesn't pass the senate, we are most likely not going to see any sort of immigration reform legislation in the near future. Do you guys have plan B or any alternative options for the immediate future? I'm considering moving out of this country and applying for residency in Canada as I have an uncle and aunt who recently became Canadian citizens.

Also, Don't take this as a negative thread. I'm sure that the vote this week will be as close as it gets.

2011 is not the election year so I think CIR/DA will be brought up. Reid has the power bring the bill back as he will still be the Senate majority leader.
How long is the process for you to migrate to Canada?

I'm not sure but it can't be that long. My uncle and aunt moved there with my cousins just couple years ago and now they are not only permanent residents, but straight up citizens of the Canada. I think Canada uses a points system. Only thing is that I would have to go back to my home country and then have my uncle sponsor me.

Well i was gonna make this kind of thread when DA fails. (we don't know yet tho)

But since you started I might as well tell.

I will finish remaining 2 years of B.S and then get M.S. in EECS in like 1 year fast( or 2 years with less stress), and get the hell out of here when no immigration reform passes.

Then I will work in the fields of my specialty in my home country and then try for
1. Canada (I think I can make it with like 74-77 points after 1-2 year of related work and apply for green card. But I need to get that damn 8 points of French fluency. otherwise I would be very borderline.)
2. Australia (I would be borderline by point system but I will enroll as Ph.D student and then I would be qualified. =) )
3. Japan (My Japanese skill is sharpening everyday memorizing 20 words a day and kanjis, and I know for sure Japan has very advanced science. I will learn a lot of science that maybe much ahead of the US. And besides I like Japanese culture than my home country culture.)
4. France (I heard this country is very tough to immigrate. Not even by marriages. But since I will be enrolling French and will keep continue here in UCLA, I should be alright at least in intermediate conversation and reading. )

That's my plan for now.

Unfortunately, I really have bad feeling that this DA will fail by a few Senate vote and will bog down even in the next 6 years. So I should prepare now so that I can apply for those country as quick as possible when I arrive my home country.

What about Brazil?

I hope to finish off my BS in Mechanical Engineering and then... I dunno. China? My home country has no industry or natural resources so there's not really any engineering jobs there. I've looked into being a merchant marine or UN worker as well.

Canada is based on point system. If you get over the minimal point like 67, you are most likely qualified I heard. Since most of us will have high education degree (MA or MS gives you full 25 points) and most of us are fluent in English, so that is like another 18 points. All of us are under 49, so get max points there as well. I think 10 points for that. If you are fluent in French it helps a lot. 8 points. And you will need some sort of work experience in your home country that will be related to your job in Canada. Meanwhile you need to have over 10K Canadain dollars minimum unless Canadian company want to hire you. So save your money in your home country or even now.

I think you get like big 14+ points there. And you can get another big points if Canadian company want to hire you. If you got family there, that gives more points. So yeah... Not too bad if you do your best.

Sometimes, you have to put yourself in 30+ people's shoes. I know I am well under 30 but I would feel so disappointed if I would be excluded. I do hope 30+ people can benefit later, not too long from current bill if it ever passes. I really think they deserve some chances too but oh well... at least hurting them wouldn't be so nice to them...

Brazil is really fast economic growing country but believe it or not, just about 1-2 years ago, they had amnesty for undocumented immigrants in Brazil. I think it was like February 2009 and they accepted to citizen anyone who had come to Brazil 1 month prior. But I hear that Brazil can be dangerous. The rich and the poor gap is like the highest and many crimes are reported from what I read.

I would rather suggest like Canada, NZ, or Australia. They have much clear immigration system,, which I consider now.

China is the #2 Economy and the fastest growing. You speak Chinese right? What about Singapore?
