Well...I'm leaving.
I am going to have to wait until winter quarter is over, I already paid for it, but I leave right after.

The way I see it, I am 20 now, if I wait until 2012 for the DA, I will be 22. Since I was planning on joining the Marine Corp that would be another two years, 24, and then wait 10 years for me to get be a citizen, 34, that's just a long fucking time and I am not waiting.

ok, soooo... Few things for the ones of you looking to leave this place.

You need a passport to join. I had my old passport that I came to this country with but it expired a long time ago, so I went to the Mexican consulate in Seattle and got a new one. You have to call and make an appointment, no one can just come in and say "I need a new passport, come on." It also costs money, is not free, obviously, it cost $101 to get it. You also need your certificate of birth and all that other shit. It's not hard.

Now... Plane tickets, they are fucking expensive. I bought a one way ticket to Paris for $1100, I am not planning on coming back here if I don't get in, I'm going back to Mexico if this whole thing doesn't workout. I think it will go great, the only people that I heard about that don't get in are the ones who aren't even close to fit. But, yeah... I am going to stay in Paris for about a week, even if I can't join for "X" reason, I got to see Paris.

I have been talking to people that joined already, they told me everything I need. So the 1st day you are there to join, if you do get in, they will take everything that you have. Money, cellphone, Ipod, cloth, and your passport... I am not sure if you get any of it back but I do know you get the passport back.

Learning French. Highly recommended, not necessary, but recommended. Now, I don't mean you have to be fluent in the language, understanding basic stuff is as far as anyone will need. I used Rosetta Stone, it was pretty cool since I did learn a lot.

I will be on later to answer any questions that anyone might have, so post them.

If I am able to join and everything goes well, I will try to get on here some how and let you guys know how it went. Even if I don't get in, I will come and let you guys know what happen.

So, be back later and ask! ask! ask! ask!

This website is pretty good if you have more questions, full of people in the Legion or wanting to join.

Be back in a few hours.

Is it true that they make the Foreign Legion do jobs that they don't French citizens to do?

Aw, I am so sad that you are leaving because I feel a bit closer to you than other members. Anyways, I wish you the best of luck even if I don't know what you are trying to do.

Few questions

If you join this french army or whatever it is can you come back to the US or do you have a ten year ban. Furthermore, are you flying out of Washington or Mexico. Please keep us updated Aaron

I was just thinking how fucked up it is that you're going to leave everything you know behind to become a legionnaire because of 5 votes... 5 votes is enough to turn your world upside down, again, first being when we were brought here.

I tried looking at the website you posted, tried to register. WELL SEEMS TO ME THAT THEY DON'T THINK ROME IS THE CAPITAL OF ITALY, EVEN AFTER HAVING TO FILL OUT REGISTRATION 5 TIMES OVER. Fuck that, man.

Why don't you try looking at plane tickets for round trip? I'm going to italy in march and round trip tickets are cheaper than one way.
