DREAM Act's missing ally

He doesn't care about DA, i remember him watching his show and just giving it a few sentences. He's mostly for 9/11 and DADT and hating on fox news. i can see why he would be good support because of what happened to the 9/11 first responders bill.

Stephen Colbert on the other hand does care about immigrants a bit more, he made a show supporting the AGJOBS bill.

He brushed DA off as "yeah i can understand the opposition."

he's called it amnesty in the past. It seems to me he doesn't see the injustice here.

This doesn't change the fact that Jon Stewart is influential in both parties of government.The way he handle the 9/11 responder bill even influence the opinion of Faux News, think Shepard Smith's coverage. Look, Jon Stewart is especially influential among the younger generation, our peers. Is true that Stewart didn't have much to say regarding the Dream Act, but the fact is he doesn't have to say much.

Thats why we should focus on gathering support among key community leaders, like Stewart and Colbert. In fact, we should use the resources we used for obtaining cloture this year and used them as a way to gather enough supporting allies in our 2011 struggle. Because, we all know that there is going to be more misinformation and paranoia than there was this year.

It's exactly what we should have been doing from the beginning. We need to get national attention to everything we do, from marches to hunger strikes and even try to do interviews on tv showing that we're no different from any other American. We wasted so much effort trying to sway politician's minds while we should have known damn well that no amount of calls or facts make a dent on what they think. We really need to organize a grassroots movement to mobilize the Latino vote to sway elections. While it might seem common knowledge that the GOP has constantly stalled any attempt at CIR, I constantly talk to other latino families who somehow think that the GOP is on our side and blame Obama and the Democrats for, and I quote, "voting down CIR and the DREAM Act." It boggles the mind how uninformed our people are so we must make an effort to spread the truth. Hell most of us have facebooks or blogs and have a network of friends and family we can reach; even every time I post something relating to CIR or DREAM it gets spread around via tags and reposts on facebook through my friends-so we can totally get more attention drawn to informing the public. We can't expect the National Media to just pick up immigration reform without actually making some sort of noise to attract the national spotlight-think Tea Party...
Just my two cents...

The problem with coming out to public television is the risk involves with our situation....which I know doesn't make sense since a lot of us went straight to DC where the power is....but before we come marching on Oprah's, or Stewart's, or Colbert's, show, we need a stronger support to make sure that we won't be harmed when we come out and speak to the public. Articles have released statements already that those who actually marched to DC are now in greater risk of being found and deported after DA failed, so to step it up and be on television face to face is a whole other concept.

My point is, if we plan on getting more public support, we have to do it carefully. I read somewhere that Obama is trying to go public and buy support for DA in 2010...that's a good start with the president on our side, so we could focus on writing him a letter to keep at this tactic.

Keep in mind, those who are against us has nothing to lose....we do.
