This is a thread to discuss the state of the union speech by President Barack Obama. He is expected to talk about spending and other issues. The most important issue to us is, of course, immigration and he is expected to talk about it because of his meeting with the Hispanic Caucus back in December after the failure of the Dream Act.

To view it go to CNN.com , or your favorite news programming. It will also be translated in Spanish through univision .

Update: McCain was on John King's CNN program and he was asked about the Dream Act. He talked about securing the border first. Let's see what happens.

The text of the speech has been released: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_813478.html

Here is what he will say about immigration:

Quote:
Now, I strongly believe that we should take on, once and for all, the issue of illegal immigration. I am prepared to work with Republicans and Democrats to protect our borders, enforce our laws and address the millions of undocumented workers who are now living in the shadows. I know that debate will be difficult and take time. But tonight, let's agree to make that effort. And let's stop expelling talented, responsible young people who can staff our research labs, start new businesses, and further enrich this nation.

He does talk about dreamers before he makes the statement about illegal immigration.

Wow, who would have that thought that this State of the Union speech would be EXACTLY THE SAME as EVERY OTHER PREVIOUS SPEECH?!

God damn. America is fucking stupid.

Please refrain from making these kinds of comments, they just make us look stupid. If we want to move ahead, we need to start by changing our rhetoric and be civil. The Dream Act is about education, your comment does not represent us.
