I live at my parents' place right now. I have my room upstairs and the livingroom is downstairs. My mother smokes like a chimney and I always get second hand smoke in my room. I ask her not to smoke inside the house and to step outside to the living patio. She never listens. I want to kill her but that's not a realistic option. I don't have anywhere else to go.

WTF would u do?

Hey I know what you mean my mom is starting to smoke and its the same thing, and I live in an apartment with her and her annoying boyfriend. It's all the stress that's getting to her.

That's true, but at what cost? Lung Cancer? Not worth it, have a talk with her maybe she will start to quit little by little..tell her you're worried for her health, in which case you should be.

damn thats nasty. I would give her a guilt trip with the cancer statistics and how the house and clothes and even the food is starting to taste like cigarettes. Convince her to smoke outside or wear a hospital face mask for dramatic effect.Move out if it's a serious issue.

I agree with what Nick says. You make your own rules when you live on your own and you have to follow the family guidelines as long as you live with other family members.

Just last week I was reading on change.org about how Kentucky has the third highest smoking rate in the States. Smoking is allowed even in childcare facilities.

http://news.change.org/stories/will-...condhand-smoke

Smoking is an addiction and it's not easy to quit. If the smoker doesn't want to quit, no one can help. That's the most important thing. The things that follow are simple.

One of the best ways to get rid of smoke smell at home is boiling some cinnamon sticks and let the steam fill the room with its aroma.

Another thing you might want to consider are air purifiers. I've heard that Ionic Breeze works well. It's effective for allergies and to remove smells. You don't have to change filters, just wipe the grid clean when it gets dirty.

Vacuuming also helps.

Good luck!

1. Buy a humidifier 2. Seal all room openings 3. Hide her cigarettes

While you're doing this, try and find a way to make money so you can move out.
