Hello all. My name is Bruno. I am 27 years old and I am an undocumented citizen. I came from Portugal on a tourist visa with my parents when i was 6 months old and have been living here since. I was raised in NJ but due to my father's condition after spinal surgery moved to Florida after college because of the warm weather. I grew up thinking of myself as an American. I had no idea I was any different than any other child on the schoolyard. i found out about my situation when I was in college and upon trying to vote my parents told me the truth bout everything. I am a college graduate but can not continue my studies in Psychology because of my lack of status. I have spent the last 6 years of my life after college trying to resolve this situation through the legal channels. Sadly i have very little money and have had many lawyers take advantage of this situation. Since the legal system is broken, I think its time that the people of this great country know about my condition. No more hiding or being scared its time you know who I am and how much more useful I can be as a citizen than an outcast. Message me if you have any ideas on what i can do.

I agree, even though the U.S feels like home to all of us, you have a great opportunity to go back to portugal with a degree and get a good job.

America may seem like the greatest country, in many ways it is, but also in many ways its losing its status. EU has stable strong economies. Its tough to think of that idea but at some point we have to take a stand. You have an advantage right now. You are getting a good degree and you dont come from a third world nation.

Make a plan, if Pres. Obama cannot pass the dream act in 6 years, Go back to portugal and start your life. What many of us have to realize is, that at some point, waiting isnt worth it anymore and we must move on.

Not having status is basically holding us back from living life. We must move on at some point.

Hey man, You have the advantage of being from the EU and a well developed nation. First of all, I completely understand that you came here when you were ONLY 6 months old and this is truly your home. However, this may be an option for you if nothing else works out here. I'm sure you can make a mark in Portugal or any other European country. Good luck!!

there is no place like home. don't mean any disrespect. but regardless of the political situation or economical situation back home...the place will always be home. Portugal is doing bad economically and unemployment is high. So in a way u should b glad that you are in usa....i know u lack the papers to work....the same goes for me. but hopefully they grant us some kind of amnesty and we explore our max potential. i try to look the positive and the negative goes away for awhile...thats all we have for now...hope
