Does anyone know any graduate students, or anyone who has graduated and is now working in Mexico?

I've been seriously considering moving to my 'home' country for graduate school or permanent residence, but I don't know anything about life there.

Also, considering current events in Mexico--the kidnappings and killings-- I am reluctant to move back. Is it as dangerous as the mainstream media portrays it?

I would like to know if anyone knows anyone living/working there as a middle-class person.

Are there cities in Mexico which would have a similar feel to.. say SF?

Thanks.

lulz. Try Guadalajara. There's way less airborne pollution than Mexico City. Or you could try Monterrey or Puebla. But beware of the PiPoPes......

Anyways, I bet you've done the research online, like most of us have... Idk if our opinions/facts will convince. You're right that it's violent down there. Just take a look if you dare. Warning nsfw nsfh

but it's full of chilangos. Stay out of the northern big cities and you'll be mostly safe. If you're thinking grad school, why not canada?

I have thought about canada. But isnt it pretty difficult to emigrate to canada esp considering i havent had a job in my field?

That's why I said grad school. It sure is difficult to emigrate just expecting to work, but as a international student it isn't all that hard. Once you finish your degree, 'perhaps' settling in may be easier than here in the states.

That's true. I hadn't made the distinction. Thanks, I'll definitely look into that.

I've never been to Canada, but it seems like a pretty nice place. It might be where I could settle down and finally just live.
