hi, first of all let me introduce myself , my name is oscar and i'm from Mexico i'm new to theses forums i read some of the topics and they are a big help, now on to the question and hope you guys can help.

My parents brought me to the USA when i was 12 i studied middle school and 2 years of highschool in texas when i was starting the 11th grade we had to move to colorado due to my parents losing their jobs so we had to move there with some family member and i finished highschool in colorado back in 2003 i'm 27 now and i'm sick and tired of working low end jobs and being the typical illegal working at hotels and cleaning houses i want to study and make something of myself can i still go to college or get in state tuition in texas or am i pretty much screwed and can't do anything.

i was thinking of going back to Mexico and try to get in a school over there but sadly my country has become almost impossible to live in due to the drug violence i read the news everyday and is quite scary.

What do guys recommend? is there anything i can do? or am i pretty much gonna have to get used to cleaning toilets my whole life?.

I recommend you starting higher education here in the US, simply because degrees from here are valued more than any other place in the world..well minus the top international universities. Look for scholarships that might apply to you, it won't be easy, but im sure its doable. Good luck.

Start your studies in community college first, they are more affordable than university.

Hey, yes you can and you should go to school. If you are, don't worry too much about your age. There's students of every age in college. I recommend you start out with two years of community college and then transfer. I am sure you will do fine with that route. It will be very affordable and you'll be able to explore what you want to study during your time in community college. All your credits will transfer to your next school. That is for sure. good luck!

If you can prove you graduated high school, and been a Texas resident you can mate.
You don't need to but it will give you in state tuition.

Remember you a never too old to learn! Knowledge is power to the people.

You're screwed as far as instate tuition goes tuition starts at 15k for those like me and you. Maybe do community college then get your bachelors abroad, there are US campuses all over, though majors are limited..

Don't completely disregard living in Mexico. I know people who have moved there and they are doing great and it's not as unsafe as the news make it seem (if you go the right places). I actually know someone who was born here and he lives there and doesn't want to come back.

If you're set on staying here, maybe try taking a class or whatever you can afford in a c.c. It'll make you feel more productive while you wait for something to come along, like DREAM. Having a degree in something, anything, will always be valuable to have.
