Hey all,

I decided to attend Baruch as an out of state resident. (I live in NJ) I have to wait a week to get my phone fixed to call them so I thought I just ask here while I'm at it.

Does anybody know if I have to fill out any special forms? How friendly are the CUNY's with undocumented students, does the school give out any private loans? How is the school in terms of reputation?

Hey man, I don't think you should have any problem at all getting admitted to CUNY Baruch. If there is any issue regarding SSN or any citizenship question, just contact the admissions office. You should have absolutely no problem at all. In fact undocumented students from NYS are eligible for in state tuition just to give you an idea of how friendly it is. As far as the financial part of your question is concerned, lets wait till a CUNY student answers your question. If you're looking to get a private loan, I suggest you look into Wells fargo private student loan for parents. I've heard of many having success with that one with a credit worthy cosigner. What are you planning on studying? I know for a fact CUNY Baruch has a top notch business school and the best Accounting program in New York state. It is a very good school to keep it short and most importantly the location is just perfect.

you don't need to fill out any special form for being undocumented (bc you're paying out-of-state). Baruch (CUNY in general) is very friendly towards undocumented. We even have a immigrant attorney for consultation bc there are so many international students.

I can say that Baruch is a VERY immigrant/undocumented friendly school (as with all CUNYS). Depending on your academic stance, you may be eligible for some certain scholarships (there's usually at least 1 that they come out with every semester, but it's pretty competitive). I think undocumented students are only eligible at the in-state tuition level. In any case, go to the admissions office and tell them the deal. The most you'll probably have to do is sign an affidavit stating you will adjust as soon as you can. In terms of reputation, Baruch has an excellent business school at it's value. It is also the most well funded within the CUNY. Come to Baruch

I have a few friends who attended Baruch (Accounting majors) and they graduated in 2005-2006. Baruch is great and CUNY is very friendly. You'll be OK once you get accepted. The only bad thing is that you have to pay out of state tuition ( $435/credit).

Best of luck!

You're wrong dear !

They offer in-state tuition for undocumented students at the college level

They call it in-district tuition. Just look it up. You'll be amazed for yourself

Yes, I strongly recommend community college as well. You can transfer after two years and you will save A LOT of money. Think about it. There is no difference between the general distribution classes you're taking at a four year college and those that you're taking at a community college.

make sure you take Core Curriculums in your Community College if you plan to go to CC first. Core Curriculums can be found in http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/bulletin/...ised_01_11.pdf
