On March 4, 2011, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano extended by 20 months to January 15, 2013 the May 10, 2011 deadline for states to be in full compliance with the Real ID.

Under the REAL ID state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards have to meet federal standards or they will not be accepted for federal purposes--boarding commercial aircraft, gain access to federal facilities or enter nuclear power plants.

The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) plans to spread the Secure Communities program nationwide by 2013. It is currently in place in 1,331 of 3,181 counties nationwide, including all of those in states along the Mexican border.

To try to fight the growing level of corruption within the CBP, Congress passed and President Obama signed the Anti-Border Corruption Act of 2010, which requires the CBP, by 2013, to give all law enforcement applicants a polygraph test before being hired. The law also requires the CBP to give polygraphs and background checks to existing employees, which has increased the already large testing backlog within the agency.

The USCIS has announced that it is extending temporary protected status (TPS) to Haitian nationals until January 22, 2013. This extension is 18 months in length and applies to all Haitians who currently possess TPS. The Government originally granted TPS to Haitians following the devastating earthquake that occurred in January 2010, and is meant to provide humanitarian relief and protection as the Haitian nation gets back on its feet.

IMMIGRATION JOINT RESOLUTION
2011 GENERAL SESSION
STATE OF UTAH
Chief Sponsor: Ross I. Romero
General Description:
This joint resolution of the Legislature urges Congress to reform an outdated and
ineffective federal immigration system and recommends that implementation of state
immigration regulation proposals on certain immigration issues be delayed until after
January 28, 2013, to allow time for federal immigration reform to pass.

The elections would be over with, is 2013 the year immigration policy passes?

One can only hope.. But i'm tire of these speculations... If it can't happen now chances are it's never going to happen..

Back in 07 we were saying 2009 was the year then 2010... And when 2013 comes around we are going to be saying 2017 is the year..

We need to understand that the time is now...We can't wait forever...

I think some big identity security issue is going to happen from now to 2013 thats going to give congress the green light to link the national ID act to immigration reform to pass it by the american people , in a way we dreamers get freedom but we dont get freedom you feel me.

Yes, this is the year to start campaigning for your masters in Washington..don't u know that there is an election in 2012? You have been recruited in this never ending cycle to help win elections. I really don't know how much more clear we can make it to you. There will be no Dream Act in 2011 or 2012. Our next opportunity will come in 2013 hopefully.

The election is in 2012 not this year! I think DA will pass this year.
