Hi,

Is there a way that I could possibly join the US Army?? I wonder what happens when an illegal joins (if he gets in) Does he/she get to change their status after they've completed their time?

Thanks

Military is not that bad really, the benefits are great. They pay for school fees. They give you family allowance when you have your own family. I plan on joining the Navy, when the dream act passes. The opportunities the mulitary offers will help me bounce back from all those years ive been held back due to my undocumented status.

How is College better than the Army, or military in general? My sister and my two brothers are all in the service and are real successful, after they are done with their service they will be attending college. My opinion is that the military only enriches your college career, but saying College>Military is a bit far fetched.

It all depends on you're perception on life... You really have to set you're sights on what is important to you...

I wanted to join and was very well qualified to join the Marines.. That was back when I was 18... I'm just to old to join now and I think i'm smarter to know the military is not a good option anymore unless you want to struggle afterwards with a mediocre life or stay in the military the rest of your life...

But you live how you want to live..

And your opinion is respected, but it is not a poor choice in life. My sister and her husband, both marines are extremely successful, now they own their beach house in Malibu. Just saying, military can be used as a step stone to further your career.

I know people who joined the military at 28-32 yrs of age. And like you said, it really depends on how you see life. And just because you joined the military doesnt mean youre going to end up having a mediocre life. Dude, thats one of the purpose of the military, is to have more than just an average life. I mean, traveling/exploring different countries, serving this nation, making alot of money, free education, full medical benefits, and having to wear a badge of honor saying you serve this country, if you consider that a mediocre life. Well then shiit ill take it! Its way better than worrying about where to get the money you need to pay for the next semester of college. Not only that, how about the daily expenses that youre going to have? I dont know about you guys but i dnt want that life.

oh btw im turning 24.

First of all, just to get it out of the way...you are full of it. I am not disputing that you have siblings who own beach houses in Malibu, could be, although doubtful as houses in Malibu are some of the priciest property in America, but the fact that you think they own property for being marines is laughable. The salary of a marine isn't the greatest.

A UPS driver, or a garbage pickup man in NYC makes a lot more money than the average marine.
