Hello, everyone. I see that a lot of the older-standing members have left. A shame, but understandable considering how things have turned out here (at least from what I have observed).

I wanted to post this thread because I have noticed that a lot of the members here address themselves as "illegals" and "aliens". I can understand their perspective, as I once stood on that side as well.

If you do name yourself "illegal alien", why do you do so?

Personally, I wouldn't do that, due to its connnotations and how it can hurt your fellow Dreamers.

Thanks.

Edit: Sorry, for the confusion. Many times, the term 'illegal' is used conjoined with 'alien'; this is what I meant. "Illegal Alien".

sorry, again

No DREAMers in their right mind would call themselves illegal, the only ones who do that are conservatives trolling DAP.

No amount of politically correct BS is going to change our status.

Can you address those without documentation as "illegal aliens"? Yes, you can. Everyone has a different stance on this.

However, why...why as a human being would you call yourself that? Like I said, you can justify it all you want by saying, "Well, 'illegal alien' means 'illegal alien'. No way around it." Yes you can, but to reference back to what I said.

Do you feel comfortable labeling youserlf that, considering how powerful labels are. (Thomas theorem: "If a situtation is defined as real, it becomes real in its consequences")

I am just looking at this from a human perspective. When you think of the word "alien", what do you think of? How do you think this affects your little brother, when he is addressed as an "alien", growing up on the playgrounds of his school.

i dont understand why you get so sensitive and touchy feely over the word illegal. im not saying that you as a human being is illegal on this god given planet. im saying you are an illegal in this country from the standpoint of soverign immigration laws. thats what i am. i am an illegal. you are an illegal. technically. thats that. no need to get all fussy about it.
