Please watch this. I know not all of it is true but also its not all lies. Think about it and I'm not trying to discourage anyone from going to college but please think of what you are doing. I know we have a different situation but you need to be aware of what is going on.

Even if you have a college degree, when you get it your illegal status will still be there so you won't be able to use it.

It is true. But I'm thinking of even if we had legal status. Jobs aren't exactly sprouting and we aren't the only ones with college degrees.

Yeah, things really do look bleak for us.

I think it depends on the type of degree that you get in the end result. I am not trying to be biased but a STEM degree would probably be more beneficial than such a degree as a liberal arts. If we take the time, resources and sacrifice for our degree we must get something that will be useful, something that has vacancy, that is to say a useful degree is not just a bachelor's degree but also a 2yr degree with opportunities .
Another thing that I am still unsure of is, if there is such a degree that would have the easiness of "being off the books". It is only something I have thought of recently hahaha.
---
I saw some of the college conspiracy video, besides the rising tuition costs there is not really any topics relevant to us, as we are not the cause of the us college debt. In our situation it would be unheard of to take student loans;. Many of us are in community college paying everything, "everything" out of our own pockets to eventually transfer to another institution, most likely the local university that is within our own city to commute. We would not be the college conspiracy students that borrow to go "out of state". We are not the kids that party and take from the US government. We know the costs and the sacrifices.

Yes I completely agree with you migster. I would advice people to get out of the U.S as fast s possible.

A Degree in Science and Mathematics is a very valuable degree.

I pay for my college out of my pocket and help support my family. It really pisses me of that I have to buy a book that is "newer" but still has the same crap that the old last years book has.
I only make around 400-550 a month. My community college is 1200 per semester + books. Keep in mind I'm helping my family keep a roof over their head.

I think that if worst thing comes is that I finish my studies sell our house and move to mexico and apply to live in another country. I'm pretty sure that there will be jobs in our home countries for people with Science and Mathematics majors.

A degree helps if you would like to immigrate to Canada.

I hate these kinds of videos misleading people into not pursuing higher education.

If you just do a simple jobs search online (not menial jobs @ McDonalds and etc...), most will require at least a Bachelors Degree.

End of story.

Yes - a college degree is required for most professional careers, but there are a number of great careers that do not require one. I'm not dissuading anyone because having a degree is always better than not having one, but not having one doesn't relegate you to a barren wasteland of McDonald's jobs either.

Highly specialized IT jobs do not require degrees since they care about your knowledge - but this may take experience to assure them you know what you are talking about (try Business Intelligence and Data Analysis)

Vocational careers (electrician, plumber, etc) do not require degrees, but they do require licenses, etc.

Sales - probably the single best way around a degree plus many companies that offer commission only sales positions do so on a 1099 option
