I finally decided to go back to my country in January after 15 years of struggling with my status. It is heart-breaking that I have to leave everything behind including all my loved ones but I think it is time for me to move on with my life. I have gone through difficult times together with you and wanted to say farewell to those who are still struggling. I am hoping next year would be a better one for you with the presidential election ahead. I am trying very hard to be optimistic about this whole situation and, hopefully, I would be better off in my country with a medical insurance and everything.

There's one thing that I'd like to ask those who might have left the U.S recently or know of anyone who did. Did anybody have to get fingerprints done at the airport? I heard that JFK does the fingerprints and asks about your visa status even when you are leaving the U.S. I am a bit worried that I might be questioned when I leave. If possible, I'd like to leave the country through the airport that neither does the fingerprints or have too many questions.

Don't lose your hope. Good-bye dreamers.

Hey..Congrats on your decision!!! One of my good friends in a similar situation left to SK and he's having an AMAZING time. You will not lose anything other than being close to friends by moving. But I'm sure you'll make more new friends there! Good luck!

I left from LAX and didn't run into any problems. No one stopped me or looked at my visa. I showed them the newest copy of my passport for TSA security checks.

Good luck! I left 2 months ago and I'm doing a whole lot better than staying in America waiting for something to happen. I'm working at a full-time job in my field, and I'll be able to save up enough money to go to grad school in a few years.

Don't get discouraged! This is an opportunity to start something sooo much better than being illegal in America.
