I give up.... I've lived here for 24 years (I'm 26) and I'm tired of not being able to do the things my friends take for granted.

I've waited for the Dream Act to pass since 2001 and quite honestly, I don't think it will pass in the next 2 years so I'm leaving for Canada.

I have a B.A in management and 7 years of work experience.

I took a "points-test" and scored a 69 (67 is the minimum to qualify).

This is what I plan to do:

1. Go to Guadalajara, Jalisco --Mexico (home country)
2. Apply as a skilled worker;
I have the funds required ($11,000)
Education
Work experience
3. Wait a year or so and if nothing happens.....well, I guess I'm fucked.

I don't want to get a student visa unless I'm able to work while I earn my MBA.

I was wondering if anyone knows someone that has successfully applied and has been admitted to Canada as a skilled worker????

So silly to think that the immigration systems in any country bum f*cks us all.. Whose fault is it? Who takes blame? Didn't the civilized world started without silly papers/cards with your picture saying 'hey i was/born or am legal to do anything here'

cachetono11,

i actually talked to a former dreamer who is now in alberta, canada, and he came here w pr through his dad who had over 10 years of work experience in the states and applied through the same program u mentioned. don't mean to discourage u... but the province i live in also asks for 10 years of work experience if applying through this category. however, there could b other provinces that require less... i sony know but it might b worth looking into it.

on the other hand, u could apply through the general stream and be sponsor by 2 people living in that state. ur funds and work experience, education, age... all qualify u for this... and honestly, i feel is ur best bet...

i totally understand how u feel... and admire ur courage... i say do it .... oh, n u know... u might even b able to apply from the states...

good luck

10 years of work experience? Wow...guess they don't want young immigrants. I know skilled worker program only requires 1 year (though obviously you have to have a skill that is on the list)

I would leave in a heartbeat to Canada or Australia but my only options are work sponsored or student Visa. Finding someone to sponsor you is proving to be extremely difficult.
My question is how do you get relevant experience if you can't legally work in the States?
