I am sick and tired of only being able to get crappy jobs and not drive, i wanna LIVE! should i wait it out a little bit more before hitting the reset button? btw Colombia is not as bad as it was when I left so I might do ok..
honestly my goal has been to marry a citizen but i'm just not cut out for it...i am very bad with girls and i put most of it on my status

I think you should wait. Worst case scenario, Romney, Santorum, and Newt favor the military path to legalization for us. Assuming that they don't flip-flop, the future is not as bleak. Patience is key here.

Of course, this is my opinion . . .

I have been here since 1990. My parents brought me here at the age of four from Mexico . . . across the border.

Romney would flip flop for sure. Lets hope for Newt or Santorum.

Be realistic: The Arms Act will not pass because it's an insult to dreamers and those already in the military. Besides, most Dems won't support it. The modified Dream Act has a better shot of passing than the ARMS Act.

Remember, the version that was voted down in the senate and passed in the house....was alright. However, I believe that the other version which has a ton of limitations and it's a bit harsher, has a better shot of passing.

This is what I believe will happen in November:

Dems lose 3 seats in the senate but keep control of the senate. The house is up in the air ----it all depends on the unemployment rate. Obama will win re-election and will push for CIR after 2 years but congress will remain deadlocked.

As I've said in other threads, I think the Dream Act will pass in about 4 years--I seriously doubt it will pass sooner than that.......I hope I'm wrong.

Trust me, it's better to be realistic than to dream all your life. I've waited for the DA since 2001; I'm now 26 years old!!!!!!!!!

Always have a plan B and research job opportunities in other countries such as Canada.

Let's see what happens in November.

My advice for you is to get at least a Bachelors and if nothing happens by the time you graduate, I'll see you in Canada.

Arms Act is just another scheme. Be happy you have a job. Most dreamers, or USC, would be happy with one.

Two words: Arms act.

If what you say is true about Dems. and Obama, I prefer Santorum or Newt with a Republican controlled House and Senate, so shit can finally be done.

IF what you say is true, I think Republicans should be given a shot. They'll get the Arms Act through.

I'll give you the piece of advise I wished someone would have given me: just leave. Don't turn back, nothing else matters, just you. Go make a life for yourself in your home country, Australia, Canada, etc.

Most immigration lawyers will tell you time is on your side for many law conditionals but for what? You trade 10 years of being out of status for what? Nothing, you get nothing unless you fill many other conditions and even so the current law just doesn't benefit the illegal immigrant.

You get a 10 year ban, who cares? 10 years is nothing while you building and making a life for yourself. Go get a degree, get married, get to drive a car freely with your own DL. Being here out of status is like being on a home arrest if you don't have car, you outcast yourself from your friends because of your status, you can't get a decent job, etc.

My two cents: Just leave now!

Lou
