Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) says he is working to craft an alternative version of the DREAM Act that would allow younger illegal aliens who came to the United States “through no fault of their own” to stay here legally and, if they wished, get in line to become a citizen.

“There is nothing that prohibits them from getting citizenship,” Rubio told the Tampa Bay Times in an April 3 interview in which he explained his plan. “We just don’t create a new pathway. The bottom line is they would have a visa of some sort and like they and any other visa holder in this country can get in line and apply for residency. You have to wait in line but you get to wait in line in the U.S. legally.”

“They would be here living, studying, working, while they’re waiting in line,” Rubio said. “We have a broken legal immigration system. Someone would say, ‘Well it’s going to take them forever to get residency.’ Well, that’s true of anybody. The system has to be modernized but that’s a separate topic. It doesn’t create a pathway to citizenship directly but doesn’t prohibit them from entering the regular pathway.”

"We're taking a lot of input," Rubio said in an interview. "I'm not just interested in what politicians think or even interest groups. I'm much more interested in the kids that are being impacted. I want to craft a solution that deals with them, with real life stories, with real life people. So I'm coming back to my 100 Ideas 'idea raisers' concept ... Sitting down with them and really trying to understand their personal predicaments and how we can address those both short-term and long-term."

Yes.

This is it.

Just work permit and driver's license. Nothing more.

No Financial Aid no nothing more.

Let us take 50 years for residency.

If you're against this, whether you are democrat or I don't care who you are for whatever reason, you are a m*ther f*cker. And I will curse you for the rest of my natural life.

If Rubio proposes this shit and it doesn't clear the senate, I'm going to be fucking mad. I don't give a damn about a green card anymore. I just want a DL and a work permit. I don't need healthcare, or any other welfare program. By the way, make this to the age of 25+ not -18 and I will be good.

-This issue will become the "KING MAKER" of the 2012 election season. If the republicans really do present a logical/reasonable solution (waiting in line but with visas in hand) and the democrats oppose the bill the republicans will swing momentum and very hard bringing in all sorts of support from every possible demographic because they will have appeared mature for the first time in almost 2 decades.
-This is the best play for the republicans because once they have control immigration will be tabled once again HAHA. ( <-- dirty trick)
-Now if the democrats don't fight this bill and just make sure its FAIR! then they can champion the fact they were able to come together for a bipartisan humanitarian bill affecting all walks of life and every person in this country 99% or not. Thus, they can still hold the immigrant vote and make this election about other issues.
---This said whatever bill comes up as long as its FAIR! it needs to be passed. All politics needs to be set aside and the immigrant community needs to stand together on this fight. (STOP DREAMING AND START ACTUALLY ACCEPTING THE FACT THAT SOME LAWS WERE BROKEN AND IF THE PUNISHMENT IS A LINE THEN SO BE IT) Tabling the issue will guarantee another 4 year hold on the issue when once again it will become a election year debate issue and nothing more.
---And this argument about C.I.R. isn't solving anything. One fight at a time, especially when your the underdog.
