all of our parents seem to point us towards this direction... " just marry a citizen and your life will be so much easier!!" well duh! i wonder if they actually think I LIKE being u ndocumented.. lol! obviously I don't. If I am marrying someone is going to be beause I am crazy in love with them not because of a GC.

Just ignore them! I mean if you so happen to fall in love and the person is a USC and marriage is the next logical step for the two of you ,then yes you'll be killing to birds with one stone as they say but don't specifically seek to do that.

Tell your dad to get married and he will find out how easy it is lol. Seriously though you are very young, only 18. Don't worry about it. Just stay in school and do well. Hopefully when you get into your 20's, things will be resolved. They have to. I mean this issue has been prolonging unnecessarily.

It's certainly tougher for those of us in our 20s already, the pressure is more intense. I think getting married to a US Citizen is a great idea, heck I'd marry someone with citizenship from a European country in a heartbeat and be outta here!

Well, a lot of you guys are lucky because you have just overstayed your visa and can adjust it by marrying a USC. If i were in your position, i'd already be hitting on USC girls. But.... i am totally undocumented, and marrying a USC would do nothing for me. So you guys are pretty much the luckier ones and i even wonder what the hell are you guys waiting for....? If it's too tough, ever heard of bribing? Bribe a USC (won't be hard as long as the person isn't just a stranger you met a month ago). You don't need to comment to my post by saying sh*t like "it's not that easy." Just sayin..

The new proceedings will be in effect later this year, and odds are that if you're a person of moral character that marries a USC, you'll most likely get a pardon. If you don't, you can still get a work permit and remain in the U.S while you wait for the pardon/3-10 year ban. So marriage is definitively an option now.......start saving (wink)

I dint think you will be issued a permit while you wait. Do you have a source?
