Despite the odds against us yet again (No Democratic majority, even Gutierrez thinks its not got a chance this year), gotta say though, nothing is impossible and something in me and many of you likewise is saying that enough is enough. The can has reached the end and can't be kicked any further. I foresee a major uprising by Immigrants this year. I really really hope Dreamers pull through with a miracle win this year. I really think it can pass IF the Democrats put the pressure. It's all on the Democrats hands from now on. Think about it. The Republican Dream Act has only ONE MOTIVE = Get Romney elected so if the Democrats push for that bill, the Republicans will be forced to come up with votes because they want it to pass and Rubio to claim victory for the GOP. But in fact it is the Democrats who will have secured victory for Obama by helping pass the bill because it was them who worked towards it for the past 10 years. Seriously, the voters can't be stupid to vote for Republicans if this bill passes. The Republicans are like a bunch of vultures who come at the end to collect the scraps and they'll end up getting mauled by the lion. Romney is already being labelled as a flip-flopper. Reminds me of John Kerry and how he was destroyed by Bush in 2004. Seriously this is a major chance for Democrats to kill two birds with one stone because there is NO WAY they can claim a house and senate super majority this election seasons. Reid and Durbin must come up with a game plan here and convert this Rubio bill into a major bipartisan agreement. Seriously this is where legislative skills must be put into effect. I really really wish a Ted Kennedy like approach is taken here by Durbin!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh!

I am really excited. Honestly I think this Rubio thing has been a huge turning point in our favor. Finally we have a conservative approach that makes sense. A starting point for negociation. This alone is huge. I also agree with the hypotherical bill and how it will play out for both political parties. If Rubio can gather enough support in the Republican house and the Democrats really care about us (i.e Reid and Durbin), they will certainly find a way to work things out. Democrates very well know Dream Act as they see it, will never pass.

Look for Gutierrez's opinion. He knows what's going on inside. He called out DA's failure before the votes in 2010. If he gives the green light for its passage then I can honestly say that I'm confident.

Here's what I think is needed to pass it: House Speaker Pelosi (Regaining House Majority), Regaining more Senate seats, Obama's re-election. Basically, democrats owe the immigrant community big time. Without any immigration reform during his second term the democratic party will surely lose support from the immigrant community.

I really think Rubio's Dream Act will pass whether it has a path of USC or not. Democrats will by far majority in Senate and House after the elections and Obama will win easily.

Once Rubio's bill passes. Democrats after the election can make changes to the bill add path to USC.

Agreed. Every single time the DREAM Act is mentioned (currently and in the past) my heart skips a beat. Now that I'm heating more and more about it I can't sleep, I keep checking for updates very fifteen minutes. It brings to the surface so many emotions. I wonder if they realize this?

Relax. Don't have all your eggs in one basket. Always have a plan B. Esp. if one's basket chances are very slim.

I do believe that the chances of some form of DA passing this year are high. I have one semester left until I graduate and I've been putting off applying to any grad. schools or even taking the GRE in fear of not being able to go if something doesn't change soon.

If it is handled "correctly," I think it has a chance.

If it makes you feel any better, I got accepted into a graduate program in political science in California, and the director knows about my status--hell the whole department must know about my status because I mentioned my status in the personal statement. So, maybe you can attend too? You never know. You might receive financial help. The program I got accepted into will be covering my first year of study.
