I think his defeat means a lot more than losing a vote for DA. His defeat to a tea partier will send a signal to many on the fence republicans to move more to the right. What do you think?

If anything, it will give him more incentive to use his remaining time to push for things that weren't accomplished during his time in the senate. Even if it's this washed up itteration of the Dream Act.

He isn't a leader in the republican party. Even if he wants to push for the DA, it doesn't really help. Other on the fence republicans know that if they want to get reelected, they have to move more to the right. For example, Senator Hatch, who is facing a similar situation in Utah where he is being challenge by a tea partier and he is losing on recent polls. We can see he is moving farther right because of this.

That's just called politics man. They'll say anything to get in and stay in. As for the party moving to the right, it's because the republican party was in the shitter in 2008 elections, and there weren't many solutions in keeping the party alive but to unite and just give nothing but shit to the other side. Make Obama's life in office hell and just fillibuster every bill that came through even if they agreed with it. If McCain had won, we probably would've had some CIR or DreamAct, because there wouldn't be much reason for republicans to sabotage the president's carrer and McCain was always for immigration reform, except now the republican memo kinda says that he has to stay in line with the party.

Don't worry about the elections. We have between now and november, if something doesn't happen in that time interval, nothing is gonna happen in the next 4 years. Even if Obama obtains a supermajority in the senate with 60 seats, we've already seen what he does with that. I also heard in his campaign, he is promissing immigration reform in the first year after he retains office. Deja vu.

It means there's a better chance of the Democratic nominee winning the seat.

I would rather have a Republican Senator who I know will vote for the DreamAct, than some random Democrat.
