Hello everyone.

How many people have never had any job? I was looking up sites last night and I noticed there were jobs available (ex. AT&T Sales specialist) but many of them required at least ONE YEAR of experience.

The problem here is I'm actually 22 and never really had an actual job. Ever since I've graduated I've been helping my mom cleaning apartments and going to community college which I will be done soon.

If everything goes well with us then I'm guessing I will finally be able to transfer to a University and work. Now what would you guys recommend? would I be eligible to apply for internships? I plan to major in accounting. Also, what jobs would you guys recommend that require no experience? how about working in a warehouse moving stuff? or any other jobs?

Lastly, my resume. I'm very embarrassed about this because I'm not sure what people will think. It has been so long since I graduated and I really don't know what to say about my lack of activity.

P.S I live in Virginia.

Man I'm in the same boat as you, I'm in college with zero job experience and I couldn't do any research this summer.

I'm getting two degrees next year, one is in Chem so I'm hoping that a pharmacy will be willing to give me hands on training so I can be a pharm tech. It's a pretty decent pay, $25k initially (which is much higher than the $0 I am currently racking in).

Dental assisting is the same thing, hands-on training is enough to qualify for a job and sometimes your boss is willing to teach you. I met a nice lady who was in real estate and changed careers this way because the dentist was opening his new practice that year

I just need enough to get by for about three years. By then I can hopefully apply for dental school

No we're not in the same boat lol. You can at least say you've been studying ever since you graduated because you said you are getting TWO degrees.

It really is a pain in the ass to study here in VA. I've been going to a CC ever since I graduated but it's expensive - around 2k+per semester - because we have to pay out of state tuition.

If I would have been allowed to go to a University and pay in-state things would be so much different.

You are not in a bad position, be positive.

All the job positions with my degree asks for 3 years of experience for an entry level position -__-

I understand I'm lucky that I'm getting a degree but I'll be applying for things that a high school grad could take on. Have you considered trade school?

But I think you can also apply for internships?

Trade school? not sure about the costs. Plus, I will be busy paying out of state tuition to the school I will transfer to.

I'm going to be a college junior this upcoming fall. I started working since high school. Well, my mom pushed me to work because she didn't want me to hang around doing nothing. So far, I had worked two jobs. First was a 99cents store clerk and then I became a hair colorist. Both jobs were owned by relatives, so the paychecks were not big. If I got the work permit, I will try to get an internship. I'm an economics major.

I say load up on volunteer services just to have something to put on a resume. In the future, if anyone asks why you never had experience before, then just tell gracefully tell them the truth. Better to not be hired for being honest than to get the job for lying.

most entry level jobs will say they require 2 years experience. this does not mean that you should not apply. it is kind of like a way of weeding out the first set of applicants. but yeah, you should do something to make yourself a good candidate, whether that is getting education/certifications, internships, volunteer work, etc.

You guys need to start doing internships. Thats the only way to get experience while in school.
