I don't believe we can serve in the arm forces with Deferred Action it is only giving us the ability to work and drive but it does not mean we are citizens. If Dream Act were to pass then yes but for now No we can't. I myself have been considering the idea of joining the Navy unfortunately I'm not allowed to, not yet at least keep pushing for the Dream Act.

There's been too many threads over this. A quick Google search will show you that you need a Green Card or citizenship to join the military. Wait for the real Dream Act to pass.

I hope they somehow make a special exception for us.

That'd be pretty sweet...

Politically, though, I can't see it happening. The military part of the DREAM Act is there to lure in conservatives who may not want just an educational component. Either the Administration gets ballsy again and let's DREAMers with deferred action join anyway or it tries to appeal to conservatives again in the future by a military route completely watered down in terms of benefits.

I agree,

however, they can still always have the military option there too. This DACA is basically a DREAM Act Lite, if they would let us work and go to school then I don't see why they won't let us enlist.

You guys should become a little more informed on what war means and how its controlled. It's not what it used to be, about the individuals, in the modern age it's about much more complex ideas. I respect everyone for their choice. However, you should really think about something like this in a different perspective before joining.

OT: With deferred action, No. If the Dream Act passes, then yes.

It's not up to the president, it's up to the command of each branch. For instance Air Force does not accept conditional permanent residents for enlistment, but Army,Marines, and Navy do. If the Army wanted they could even allow an undocumented immigrant to join, but that would be an extreme case! But generally speaking you need to be a legal permanent resident or U.S Citizen. On another note I am in DEP right now for 12B/Combat Engineer. 3 months ago I was EWI and now I'm in the Army
