I think I read somewhere here when the President announced his EO back in June that it would be possible for our employers to help us adjust legal status, would that be possible?
I know when you have a student visa you can get your status fixed through an employer (a friend of mine from South Korea is going through that process right now), would that be possible with a work permit?
Sorry if this has been addressed somewhere else.

What I know is that what Obama did is not EO. It's just a change in policy. However, you must meet certain requirements (you can look for it here or google DACA). However, that does not grant you legal status. It's just saying that you're illegal but you can stay and work. I assume that your friend is legal immigrant with a valid visa? I'm from Korea too, and usually people can get a visa through work permit and get sponsored for green card from their employer. However, that does not apply to illegal immigrants.

So I found this here:

Their degree or other training may lead them to “specialty occupation” employment for which they can now obtain an H-1B, then depart, consular process and return without a waiver (as they have no ULP bar).
Only people 18 or less may be able to get a sponsorship from their employers?
Well, at least they can adjust their status with time.

My friend did come with a student visa. He couldn't work but he could go to school but paying tons for it. He got a job offer earlier this year in California and his employer was willing to sponsor him. That is my question, if we have a SSN and work permit, what impedes our employers from sponsoring us?
From the few things I've read, because of the 3/10 year ban our employer can't sponsor us?
You know what, as long as I can work and drive and get me my own credit I'm fine.

EDIT:

So I found the thread I read back in June:
http://dreamact.info/forum/showthread.php?t=28027

Damn it! I didn't read it through back then.
Like I said, I'm just happy to be able to get a job and drive.
