Has anyone ever been detained or arrested by police? Are detained and arrested the same?

I have been detained by police for no reason various times. I can safely say i have been detained and questioned five times, but never been cited, charged, or convicted of any crime. During those police encounters they have checked for my name, DOB, and address in their police car computers.

In one particular case, a police officer wrote down my name on his note pad, i asked him why he took my name and he replied saying it was for his record.

Form-821D part 2 question 1 states if you have been arrested FOR, charged with, or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in the United States?

Should i write down NO? I am afraid police reports will show up on the biometric screening and thus put me on removal proceedings.

Would i need to submit these police reports to USCIS?

I don't want to go to my local police station to find out.

Does anyone have any advice?
Unfortunately, i did not obtain a lawyer's services, so this forums is all i have.
This is the only concern i have regarding my application, and I will not apply until i get a solid answer from some one who has asked their lawyer this particular question or if i do obtain all those police reports.

Thanks.

I really doubt that it's going to be an issue. I'm guessing you live in a major city.. Questioning and note taking is pretty much standard stuff for authorities. Basically if you were never linked or more importantly CHARGED of anything, it shouldn't be much of a concern.

It all depends on why you were detained for. If you were brought in for questioning to gather information (you were not a suspect of a crime), then it's safe to say "no"

Your situation doesn't seem too complicated. I think it's safe to put "no" since you have never been arrested, charged, nor convicted. You can always talk to a lawyer to be on the safe side.
