So I started to put together my packet and I left my college transcripts for last (dumb of me, I know). I was looking at the college website and I saw that it takes 5-10 working days for my school to send out official sealed transcripts. I was wondering what kind of transcripts did you guys send and what kind of transcripts do we actually need (officially sealed or unofficial student transcripts). For the record I go to a CUNY school (John Jay).

Anyway, thank you for your help in advance.

I sent in unofficial student transcripts since I cannot obtain an official transcript until I'm done paying off my tuition. The instructions don't specify that they need to be official. I also sent in other supporting documents though (like bank statements, medical records etc)

Alright thanks. Still trying to figure out if it's worth waiting 5 days for an official transcript or just sending in an unofficial transcript. More insight on this would be great.

They take either really, but it's better to open them and even make a copy for yourself. it will elimated the 5 seconds it takes to open the envelope and your application will get processed 5 seconds faster.

Do you send the copies or save the copies.

I really concerned about sending my real official diplomats...

Nothing official or original except for the original signed translation of a birth certificate or foreign language document.

Everything should be copies as USCIS will not return anything.
